Dundee have continued their summer transfer business by signing Mexican defender Antonio Portales.
The 27-year-old centre-back joins the club from Atlante FC who play in the Liga de Expansión MX in Mexico.
Portales has also played for Oaxaca, San Luis and Monterrey in his homeland.
New Dundee manager Tony Docherty has been busy shaping his squad for Dundee’s return to the Premiership and he believes he has signed a player who the Dens Park faithful will identify with.
Docherty said, “The club were made aware of Antonio and our recruitment team watched him extensively. We then all agreed that he would make a great addition to our playing squad.
“He is someone who enjoys defending, he is a bit old-school in terms that he enjoys defending.
“He is effective in both boxes and has real ability to play out from the back. He displays real passion and desire in his performances and I think this is something that will really relate to the Dundee fans.”
Portales becomes Dundee’s fourth signing of the summer, following Scott Tiffoney, Joe Shaughnessy and Charlie Reilly in committing to the Dark Blues.
