Dundee boss Tony Docherty has used the international break to help his squad regroup and prepare for the challenges ahead.
The Dens Park side has not won a league game since the second game of the season and has lost its last four in all competitions.
But ahead of this weekend’s Premiership game at Motherwell, the manager believes the two-week break has helped his side become “laser-focused” on the next block of matches.
Speaking on Friday he said: “I think (the international break) can help. Different managers approach it different ways, I’ve done the same myself.
“Sometimes you don’t want an international break because the momentum is so high and you’re doing so well, you don’t want to break anything.
“Our situation on this occasion, in isolation to all the other ones, we’ve had an opportunity to really get tight with the squad.
“We have a brilliant group of players here and staff, it’s a really great environment to work in and it just allows us that time to regroup and reset and really focus.
“We’re laser-focused on the next matches that will take us into the next international break.
“So for us, for me, I feel it’s really allowed us to really come together and look forward to the next part of the season.”
Dundee currently sit eighth in the table after one win and three draws from their opening seven games but are without a win in their last six, including a League quarter-final defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.
