Derek McInnes believes a return to winning ways would be the ideal way for Kilmarnock to go into the international break.

The Rugby Park side are 11th in the William Hill Premiership on three points, one more than bottom side Hearts, and have drawn their last four games in all competitions with only one win in 13 in total this season.

Killie surrendered a two-goal lead at home to Dundee United last weekend to frustrate McInnes again and they next take on Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday, looking for all three points to kick-start their league campaign.

McInnes said: “We are six (league) games in, we’ve drawn the last three games in the league, we’ve drawn the last four games in all competitions and each one in isolation is actually not the worst result in the world.

“We’ve drawn with Hibs, drew with St Mirren away with 10 men, drew with Dundee United, which is not perfect because we’re used to winning games at Rugby Park and drew with Copenhagen.

“Each result in isolation isn’t the worse result but you can’t have too many draws, because you don’t get where you want to get to.

“I think we would all benefit from getting getting a win.

“We’re only six games in and although we beat Rangers in the first day of the season last year, actually, we were quite slow out of the blocks until towards the end of October, when we really found ourselves.

“So we know that those performances are in us and the consistency is in us, it’s just trying to find it.

“Any time you go into a game prior to an international break, it’s important that you try and enjoy that break and enjoy that period, because we don’t play for 15 days after that, until we play Rangers.

“So I think for obvious reasons, it’s important. Dundee will be the same, they are looking for that win to take them in to the international break and we are the same.”
