Hearts boss Derek McInnes has been named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month after making an impressive start at his new club.

McInnes moved to Tynecastle from Kilmarnock at the end of last season and has been shaping his squad after a busy summer of transfers.

They’ve made a strong start to what could be a promising Premeirship season, with the team unbeaten throughout August.

Hearts earned ten points from a possible 12 with key victories over Aberdeen, Dundee United and Livingston, as well as coming from behind to draw with Motherwell in a six-goal thriller.

That sees the team level on points with Celtic at the top of the Premiership table with fixtures against Rangers and Falkirk to come after the international break.

“It’s nice to win an award but it’s really all about the team’s performances,” McInnes said.

“We’ve had a good start, and hopefully we can build on it, but any individual award is down to good staff and players, and the team doing well.”

Colin Matthews, chief executive of award sponsors Glen’s Vodka said: “Under Derek McInnes’ leadership, Heart of Midlothian has kicked off the season with an impressive run of results, putting the club in a strong position for the year ahead.

“His tactical approach and ability to inspire the team have earned him widespread praise, making him a deserving recipient of the first Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month award this season. Congratulations to Derek and everyone involved at Tynecastle Stadium.”
