David Gray says he and his Hibs side are “delighted” with the Boxing Day derby win over Hearts at Tynecastle.
Despite a dominant first-half display at the home of their city rivals, the Easter Road men had to contend with the score being level.
But Dwight Gayle struck in the second-half to secure a rare Edinburgh Derby win in Gorgie for the green and white side of the capital.
After the game, Gray said: “We are delighted, I think you see that with the scenes at the end. It’s a really difficult place to come and I think history tells you that.
“It’s been five years to the day since we last got a win here and that’s what we said before the game.
“I think that is something I have challenged the group a lot with over the last few weeks. It’s about creating our own history and changing history as much we can and building on that togetherness and I think you seen that today.
“I am delighted for everyone involved.
“I thought we played really well, we limited them to very few chances, we could have been more clinical ourselves.
“We were excellent in the middle of the park. The biggest thing for me was the character we showed after going it at half-time at 1-1 with how good we were in the first-half.
