Prolific Scotland wings Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe will both miss Edinburgh’s final United Rugby Championship match before the autumn internationals away to Cardiff on Saturday due to injury.
However, the national team’s two highest try-scorers of all time are both expected to be fit in time for next Saturday’s Murrayfield Test against the United States.
“Van der Merwe and Graham both picked up injuries in Friday’s victory over Benetton, however the duo are expected to be fit for Scotland’s Quilter Nations Series campaign,” Edinburgh said in a press release after naming a team showing three changes to the XV that started last week’s 43-0 home win against the Italians.
Ross McCann and Lewis Wells start on the wings in the absence of the key duo, while Scotland lock Marshall Sykes returns to the pack after being rested last week.
Cardiff have won three of their four matches so far and Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt is braced for a tough test at Cardiff Arms Park.
“It’s always a test going away in the URC, and Saturday will be no different against a side that have started the season well,” he said.
“They’re unbeaten at home and kick really well, so we’ll need to be at our best to get the result we want to finish this first block on a high.”
