Danny Rohl insists he will be at Rangers next season aiming to raise standards at the club.

The German coach hauled the Light Blues back into the title race after arriving last October but in a post-split collapse – defeats to Motherwell and Hearts will almost certainly ensure another trophyless season – Rohl has come in for stinging criticism from frustrated fans.

With three fixtures remaining, Rangers are seven points behind Hearts and four behind Celtic ahead of the Old Firm game at Parkhead on Sunday, while reports claim Rohl is on a shortlist to take charge at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

Asked if he felt sure he would still be Rangers manager next season, the former Sheffield Wednesday boss said: “From my side of course, 100 per cent.

“There’s a lot of rumours. I think I looked back last year with how many clubs I was linked, I could get maybe 20 jobs there in the newspaper.

“But my full focus is on Rangers. I think even in the last couple of days our conversations with the board, with the club, goes just in one direction, how we can win titles with the club in the future.

“I’m convinced I chose the club with the reason to bring back success, to win titles.

“A good process is not enough. We want to have titles and for this we have to change things. We set standards, but we have to increase the standards and if we do this, then we have a chance.

“If you look a little bit back and we are honest with each other, in the last 15 years we didn’t win what we should do.

“I think this is the big part we have to change. For this, we have to make a lot of things better.

“That starts to set the standards. I think in the last six months we improved the standards, higher and higher. In the last seven days, we couldn’t.

“I think this is a big part in our future. Set new standards and that means we have to change things in this building, this is crucial.

“We have to play not just 45 minutes good football and successful football, we have to change it to 90 minutes, to dominate the game and all those things.”

Quizzed about his conversations with the board, Rohl said: “Fully, fully committed. I feel the support every day. I feel the conversations we had. We spoke so much about what we want to change for the summer.

“And all in all, I feel that I’m in the right place with the right people with a lot of motivation, positive energy to bring this club not just to a one-hit wonder, back to a consistent club who can win titles in a row.

“This is also important to understand. A one-hit wonder for us, it’s nice, but what we are looking for is that you consistently play for the title. And this is my job, this is our job, and this is why I’m looking forward.”
