The Hearts boss said the defender's injury is 'bad' and it looks like he cannot play for the rest of the season.

Daniel Stendel: John Souttar’s season may be over

Daniel Stendel believes Hearts defender John Souttar’s season is over after the defender appeared to rupture his Achilles against Rangers.

The Scotland centre-back went down off the ball 14 minutes into his side’s 1-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win over the Light Blues.

It would appear to be a repeat of an injury which he ruled him out for five months when he first suffered the problem back in January 2017.

Stendel, after seeing his side book a semi-final slot, said: “It’s not really good. At the moment, the first diagnosis is that he cannot play this season anymore. It’s bad.”
