Daizen Maeda leaves Celtic in £10m move to Ipswich Town

Daizen Maeda has left Celtic in a move worth around £10m to Premier League side Ipswich Town.

The Japanese attacker has sealed a move to the Premier League newcomers on a three-year deal after expressing his desire to play in the league.

The 28-year-old arrived at Parkhead in January 2022 after impressing in his home nation’s top-flight.

He proved to be a mainstay under Ange Postecoglou and has helped fire the side to ten major honours, including five successive league titles.

STV Sport understands that Celtic will receive £10m for the move.

Maeda said on X: “To the Celtic family, the last four and a half years at Celtic have been the most special chapter of my career and my life.

“It has been an incredible honour to wear this badge, to play for this amazing club, and to share so many unforgettable moments with my teammates, the staff, and the best supporters in the world.

“Thank you for standing by me through every high and low. Your incredible support gave me strength every single day, and I will always be grateful.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Glasgow who welcomed and supported my family.
