The waiting is over for Team Scotland as the opening ceremony for the 2022 Commonwealth Games took place in Birmingham on Thursday evening.
Team Scotland wore a tartan parade uniform woven by the Lochcarron Mill in Selkirk, designed by Siobhan McKenzie, at the Alexander Stadium, the home of UK Athletics.
The team was led by Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 medallist Kirsty Gilmour and Paralympic bronze medallist Micky Yule, who had both been selected by their peers to be flagbearers at the opening ceremony.
It marked the first time in Games history that Scotland had two flagbearers.
A total of 260 competitors will represent Scotland at the Games, with the team comprising of 126 men and 134 women.
The Scottish athletes will be competing for medals in 18 sports at the games, including seven para sports: athletics, basketball, cycling, powerlifting, swimming, triathlon and lawn bowls.
It comes after the team took home 40 medals from the Gold Coast Games four years ago, following a record-breaking haul of 53 medals at Glasgow 2014.
