Team Scotland will also take part in seven para sports: athletics, basketball, cycling, powerlifting, swimming, triathlon and lawn bowls.

STV News takes a look at everything you need to know about following the action this summer.

When do the Games begin?

The 2022 Commonwealth Games run from Thursday, July 28 to Monday, August 8. They are the first Games to take place on UK soil since Glasgow hosted the event in 2014.

Team Scotland will wear a tartan parade uniform woven by the Lochcarron Mill in Selkirk, designed by Siobhan McKenzie, at the opening ceremony.

The opening and closing ceremonies are both being held at the Alexander Stadium, the home of UK Athletics, in the north of the city.

Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 medallist Kirsty Gilmour and Paralympic bronze medallist Micky Yule have both been selected by their Team Scotland peers to be flagbearers at the opening ceremony – the first time in Games history that Scotland will have two flagbearers.

Badminton star Gilmour will be competing in her fourth games and won medals at both Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018.

Yule is preparing for his third Games and was the first Scottish athlete to compete in Para-Powerlifting at the 2014 Games in Glasgow, where he finished fourth. He returned for Gold Coast 2018 but just missed out on a medal again, coming fourth for his second consecutive Games.
