Chelsea treble winner Erin Cuthbert dreaming of World Cup with Scotland

Treble-winning Chelsea star Erin Cuthbert has set her sights on completing a World Cup dream with Scotland.

She may have won it all in the English game with the all-conquering London side last season, but the winger isn’t satisfied yet.

Cuthbert is now aiming for success with the national team as they begin their journey towards Brazil 2027.

In an interview with STV Sport, she said: “I think overall I have become more professional in general, and to know that to compete with the very best week in week out, you have to be a 24-hour athlete almost.

“At Chelsea there is always going to be someone that is coming for your position, of course you want another domestic treble and to add European glory.

“We want to take ourselves to the next stage in Europe, and I think we can do that.”

Cuthbert has experienced everything from major tournaments to major disappointments, in her 78 international caps.

Now, as a senior player for her country, she is feeling the positive momentum from an encouraging Nations League campaign.

She said: “We actually dominated and ran all over Holland that day, and I was super proud of the team. It reminded me of old times when things were good.

“Having that as my last game of the season, and last reminder I have of Scotland, I have really positive memories and I am really looking forward to getting started again, because I really think we are building something.”

So, as well as sweeping the domestic trophies with Chelsea, there is one other box she wants to tick.

She said: “Getting Scotland to a major tournament again would just be a dream, and obviously with Brazil-Scotland, we have a bit of history, joga bonito and all that, it would be a dream to take Scotland to a World Cup.”
