Celtic have clinched their fourth Premiership title in a row after a season of dominance in the Scottish top-flight.

The Hoops secured the league trophy for another season thanks to a win over Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers’ all conquering side are now just one win away from a treble when they take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.

They took their place at the top of the table after the first game of the season and they haven’t looked back since with the lead just continuing to grow throughout the campaign.

We take a look back at five games that helped Celtic become champions again.

The Hoops laid down a marker in their opening game as they raised last season’s flag in front of a packed Celtic Park back in August.

The 60,000 fans in attendance were treated to a dominant display with Reo Hatate, Liam Scales, Nicolas Kuhn and Anthony Ralston all on target in a comfortable win.

That put the champions top of the league after the first weekend and they haven’t looked back since, retaining that position right until the end.

Legendary Lisbon Lion Jim Craig, who helped Celtic to the European Cup in 1967, hoisted the league flag high before kick-off.

Celtic 3-0 Rangers

Brendan Rodgers’ side opened up an early five point gap over city rivals and closest challengers Rangers after just four games with an impressive and one-sided derby victory.

Player of the Year favourite Daizen Maeda opened the scoring in the first-half before countryman Kyogo Furuhashi doubled the lead before the break with a well-placed finish into the bottom corner.

Captain Callum McGregor secured the three points with a goal of the season contender in the second half to give Celtic a commanding lead.

They have lost the other two derby games since, but by then any realistic hopes of a title race were long gone.

Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

In the early stages of the season it looked like Aberdeen would be the ones to keep up the pace after they produced an impressive run of results under Jimmy Thelin.

They were undefeated in the league after 11 games, winning ten and coming back from two down to get a draw at Celtic Park.

However, the wheels started to come off after they suffered their first defeat of the season in a crushing 6-0 loss to the Hoops at Hampden in the League Cup semi-final.

Celtic arrived at Pittodrie a couple of weeks later and put an end to any hopes of a title-challenge coming from the north east with a 1-0 win thanks to a Reo Hatate volley.

St Mirren 2-5 Celtic

St Mirren made Brendan Rodgers’ side work for all three points in an entertaining game in Paisley back in March.

But Celtic’s class showed in the end with three late goals to increase their lead at the top of the Premiership.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Arne Engels both scored in the first-half, but the Saints refused to give up and made it 2-2 early in the second.

Substitute Yang was the hero as he struck a double, with Maeda also on the score sheet to secure the win.

Celtic arrived at Tannadice on Saturday afternoon knowing a point would be enough to clinch the title.

But they left nothing to chance with a typically dominant display that has been their calling card this season.

They opened the scoring through a Ryan Strain own goal before Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah grabbed a double each to secure a comfortable win.
