Celtic are poised to sell winger Mikey Johnstone to Sheffield United.
The Glasgow side are “close to agreeing” the sale of the 25-year-old to the Championship outfit, STV News understands.
It comes after the Republic of Ireland midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell in the division at West Bromwich Albion last season, where he notched seven goals in 20 appearances and even scooped the league’s Player of the Month award for March.
Joining the Hoops as a nine-year-old in 2008, Johnston worked his way through the youth team ranks to the senior side.
He as made 61 appearances for the Parkhead side, scoring nine goals.
The deal comes as Celtic launch a bid for Sheffield United defender, 24-year-old Auston Trusty.
STV News understands the deal for the USA international is separate and has no impact on any potential transfer for Mikey Johnstone.
