Celtic have rejected a West Ham bid for Arne Engels and have confirmed Premier League interest in Alastair Johnston.
STV Sport understands that the bid from the Championship side for Engels, as is, is “way below” Celtic’s valuation of the midfielder.
The Belgian made a deadline day move from Augsburg to the Premiership champions in 2004, in a deal that broke the club’s transfer record at the time.
Celtic have since signed striker Kasper Hogh for a club-record fee from Bodo/Glimt.
Engels, 22, has now entered the last two years of his current contract.
Martin O’Neil also confirmed interest from Everton for right-back Alastair Johnston.
He revealed that he has received a phone call from the Premier League’s side manager, David Moyes, regarding the 27-year-old.
However, no official bid has been received yet.
Celtic signed the Canadian in January 2023 from MLS side CF Montreal, and he still has three years on his current contract.
