Celtic forward Giorgos Giakoumakis is in talks over a potential move to Japan.

The Greece international is reportedly on his way out of Glasgow this month and a fee of £3.5m has now reportedly been agreed with J League side Urawa Red Diamonds.

The 28-year-old scored the second goal in Celtic’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Kilmarnock on Saturday in what was his ninth goal of the season despite being backup striker to Kyogo Furuhashi.

Respected transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that Giakoumakis is now set for talks with the Diamonds as his departure nears.

Romano also reports that MLS Atlanta are also keen on taking the player, who was the Premiership’s top scorer last season and the Eredivie’s the season before, to the states.

He said: “Urawa Red Diamonds have reached an agreement with Celtic for transfer of Giōrgos Giakoumakīs. Understand it’s €4m package.

“MLS side Atlanta still trying to sign the player — while personal terms are still under discussion with Urawa.”

Celtic have been linked with a host of potential replacements with South Korea forward Cho Gue-Sung high on Ange Postecoglou’s wanted list.
