Celtic Women will host Glasgow City at the home of the men’s team in the crunch SWPL clash between the pair.

City are currently leading the way at the top of the table but are only two points ahead of the Hoops with five games to go.

The sides meet on Thursday, May 11, and the game will now be played at Celtic Park in a bid to maximise crowd potential.

There are three league games to go until then as the race for the title heats up between the top three with Rangers also in contention as they sit three points off the top and a point behind their Old Firm rivals.

Celtic will also host Rangers on Thursday, May 3, in a game that will be played at their usual home of Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium.

City will then travel to play Rangers on the last day of the season as Fran Alonso’s side will play Hearts.

The Hoops announced the Celtic Park plans with a statement released on Saturday.

It said: “As Celtic FC Women continue their push at the top of the SWPL table, we are delighted to announce that next month’s fixture against Glasgow City will now take place at Celtic Park on Thursday, May 11.

“Currently, the Celts sit just two points behind City, and with six games of the inaugural Scottish Women’s Premier League season remaining, Fran Alonso’s side are still in the fight for the title.”

Speaking on the announcement, Alonso said: “To be able to play at Celtic Park again is an amazing opportunity, especially as we come up against the current league leaders in our push for the title.

“I would love if as many fans as possible could come along and support the Ghirls in what could be a defining game in our season, and hopefully it’ll be a day we never forget.”

The two most recent match-ups between the teams ended in victory for the Hoops, who delivered three points on their travels to Petershill Park.

Celtic then booked their place in next month’s Scottish Cup final, with a 1-0 win over City at Hampden Park a week later.

They will play Rangers in the final.
