Plans have been unveiled to immortalise Celtic legend Jim Craig with a statue in Govan.
The iconic Lisbon Lions defender made more than 230 appearances for the Hoops, including in the famous European Cup final triumph in 1967.
Legendary manager Jock Stein, Lisbon Lions captain Billy McNeill, and the man considered to be Celtic’s greatest ever player, Jimmy “Jinky” Johnstone, all have statues at Celtic Park.
Meanwhile, statues to fellow Lisbon Lions Bobby Lennox and Tommy Gemmell have been unveiled in their respective hometowns.
The Jim Craig Govan Foundation unveiled plans on Wednesday for a statue in Govan, where the now 82-year-old was born.
He told STV Sport: “I never thought I would be immortalised in picture, nevermind in stone.
“I’ve been fortunate to go through my life as a Lisbon Lion where I get treated very well wherever I go – apart from Ibrox I suppose.
“It’s a privilege to hear there’s a statue being done.”
He added: “Everyone played their part in the iconic team. I feel so lucky to have played with them.”
Jim Craig was helping to launch a campaign to build a statue in Govan, where he spent his early years growing up at the Glasgow Irish Centre.
