Celtic have signed goalkeeper Joe Hart and midfielder James McCarthy.

Former England stopper Hart joins on a three-year deal from Tottenham Hostpur, while Republic of Ireland international McCarthy has penned a four-year contract after leaving Crystal Palace.

Hart spent last year with Spurs as back-up to club captain Hugo Lloris after spells with Burnley and Torino.

The 34-year-old comes in to vie with Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas for the number one jersey at Parkhead.

McCarthy, meanwhile, began his career in Scotland with Hamilton Academicals before moving south to play in the English top flight.

The midfielder starred as Wigan won the FA Cup, earning a transfer to Everton as a result.

After six seasons at Goodison Park, McCarthy moved on to Crystal Palace in 2019.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou says he’s delighted to bolster his squad with two new additions.

He said: “I’m delighted that we have signed two top-class players in Joe and James.

“Both of them have a wealth of experience at both club and international level, and that is something which can only benefit the squad, and I’m looking forward to working with both of them.”
