Celtic have agreed a fee with Legia Warsaw for the transfer of Croatian right-back Josip Juranovic.

The Premiership side are looking to bolster their defensive options and manager Ange Postecoglou has been been tracking the 26-year-old for the role.

Now that a fee has been agreed with the Polish side, the Hoops are hoping that they can have the deal tied up by the weekend.

Juranovic is a Croatia international and has been capped ten times by Scotland’s Euro 2020 conquerors, including their 3-1 win at Hampden that ended Steve Clarke’s hopes of qualification to the knock-out stages in the summer.

Celtic have been looking for a new right back since selling Jeremie Frimpong in January and then seeing Jonjoe Kenny return to Everton when his loan spell finished in May.

However Anthony Ralston has made the position his own in recent weeks, scoring two goals and putting some credit-worthy performances with Postecoglou’s men currently on a four-game winning run.

The fee for Juranovic is believed to be in the region of £2.5m.

Speaking on Tuesday, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged the interest in Juranovic but said that the club was looking at several options for that area of the team.

“It’s obviously an area where we definitely need some cover,” Postecoglou said. “At the moment Anthony Ralston is doing an outstanding job and I think there’s more in him to improve. But he can’t play every game.

“So it’s definitely an area we need to strengthen and it’s an area we are targeting and I’m hoping for us to add to, but to nail it down to one person, that’s not how it’s been working.”
