Rangers have cut Celtic's lead at the top of the Premiership to just two points after a dramatic 2-1 win in the Old Firm derby.

Ryan Kent put Steven Gerrard's side ahead after 36 minutes later only for Odsonne Edouard to equalise before the break.

Rangers got their winner when Katic rose to head in on 56 minutes and give his team their first win at Celtic Park in nine years.

The visitors were on top in the opening exchanges but were unable to take advantage of Celtic's lacklustre start and looked like they might pay the price when Neil Lennon's side were awarded a first half penalty.

Katic was judged to have fouled Christopher Jullien while defending a corner and Ryan Christie stepped up to hit the spot kick only to see Allan McGregor palm it away at full stretch.

Celtic had another golden opportunity when Jullien's header from another corner was cleared off the line by Steven Davis.

Rangers responded to the pressure with a move that opened the scoring. Borna Barisic swept in a cross that Ryan Kent met perfectly to hit a first time shot in off the post and put his side 1-0 up.

Celtic bounced back quickly and were level within five minutes. Callum McGregor's shot deflected off Edouard and into the goal, prompting furious Rangers protests that the ball had hit the Frenchman's arm.

The visitors kept their attacking intent after the break and Alfredo Morelos fired over the bar from close range as they sought to regain the lead.

Katic then had his golden moment as he rose high to head past Fraser Forster and give his side a lead to defend again.

Jullien went close to an equaliser and Davis was once again perfectly placed on the line to deny him and the hosts continued to press to no avail.

Both sides made changes as the final whistle drew near and there was late drama when Morelos, booked earlier for a foul on Scott Brown, was shown a second yellow card for a dive.
