Bundesliga winger Skov Olsen joins Rangers on loan

Rangers has confirmed the signing of Wolfsburg winger Andreas Skov Olsen on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.

The Danish international has become Danny Rohl’s third signing of the window, alongside midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and left-back Tuur Rommens.

Rohl previously said that Skov Olsen, who has only played in eight out of 16 Bundesliga matches so far this season, can be a “weapon ” for his side and gives the team a “different profile”.

The Dane has been capped 40 times for his country and was part of the squad which Euros semi final in 2021.

The 26-year-old broke through the FC Nordsjælland academy before earning himself to Italian outfit Bologna. He made 70 appearances in Serie A before moving to Belgian giant Club Brugge.

Skov Olsen’s impressive form resulted in German side Wolfsburg singing him last January.

The winger has arrived in Glasgow on a temporary basis, but Rangers have the option to make the move permanent in the summer

He said: “I’m very excited. I’m very happy that it’s done and I’m so excited to meet all the players, fans and the rest of the club. 

“Rangers are the biggest club in Scotland with a huge history. It has huge traditions and is a very old club. 

“When I finally heard that I had the opportunity to come here, I wasn’t in doubt for a second. I want to come here to try help win trophies with the rest of the team, do my best, and have a great time here.” 

Head Coach, Rohl, added: “We are really excited to bring Andreas to the club. 

“He is a player who has proven himself at the top level and brings experience of performing under pressure both domestically and on the European stage. 

“He will provide real quality in the final third of the pitch and arrives hungry for this challenge and excited by the opportunity ahead of him.”
