Brian Graham has said it has been “challenging” around Partick Thistle following the sacking of club legend Kris Doolan.
The Fir Hill board said the decision to relieve the Thistle legend of his duties was “not taken lightly” after the club had won just one of their last five games in the Scottish Championship and suffered a 3-0 defeat away to fifth-placed Raith Rovers on Saturday.
The 38-year-old had made 401 appearances for the club and scored 121 goals before departing in 2019, and led the Jags to two play-off campaigns as head coach.
Assistant manager Paul McDonald also left the club, meaning Brian Graham and Mark Wilson will oversee preparations for this weekend’s match against Airdrieonians at home.
Ahead of the weekend’s match, he said: “The last couple of days have been challenging, obviously. That’s football; that’s part of the game.
“[Myself and Mark] need to make sure we’re working hard. I don’t think it’s a reflection of the players and we need a reaction from that. So that’s what we’ve been working on this week.
“It’s still raw at the moment. The manager lives in the position, so it’s a difficult time.
“And obviously, he’s done well as a manager. So we just need to focus on the game itself.”
