Scots golfer Bob MacIntyre has said he was disappointed with how his reaction to missing the Masters cut was portrayed.
The 29-year-old from Oban missed the cut at the first major of the year after shooting rounds of 80 and 71.
The golfer, ranked 12th in the world, was reprimanded by tournament officials two weeks ago after he directed a middle finger at the 15th green, before he carded a nine on the par-five hole.
MacIntyre, who struck his approach into the pond, also responded angrily to his second shot on the 17th and slammed his club into the ground.
He later swore after an erratic tee shot on the par-three 12th hole and again on the par-five 13th.
When asked about the response to his behaviour, MacIntyre expressed disappointment with how it was portrayed, but insisted he’s unlikely to change his ways.
He said: “I’m disappointed with the way it went out there, the way it got portrayed. But it’s me, it’s the way I’ve always been. It’s the way I’m probably always going to be.
“I’m trying to do better on that side of it, but again, it’s difficult, it’s live sport. It’s like putting a microphone on a referee at football. It wouldn’t be pretty.”
MacIntyre added: “It was just a poor week. I try not to look too much into it. I just put it down.
“We always say we play aggressively in attack and rinse and repeat the next week.
“It had been a year since I missed the cut, then I missed the cut a year later in the exact same place. It’s nothing new to me, to be honest with you.
“I’m disappointed not to compete better, but it’s just one of those weeks.”
Sergio Garcia was reminded of a new code of conduct during the final round this year at the Augusta National.
A Masters official warned the former champion after he became frustrated on the second tee and struck his driver against a water cooler.
