Rangers have been dealt a blow with news that Todd Cantwell has been ruled out for the next few weeks through injury.
A hamstring problem means that the attacking midfielder will be sidelined for around three to four weeks.
Cantwell won’t be in the squad for Saturday’s match against Hearts and Rangers face Kilmarnock and Motherwell in the league, Hibernian in the Scottish Cup and Benfica in the Europa League all in the next four weeks.
“Todd will be out for a few weeks,” Rangers manager Philippe Clement said. “Of course that’s a disappointment for him and for the team because he was in really good form.
“It’s part of football and we’ve coped with these things in the last couple of months also.
“It’s about other players stepping up and doing the right things for the team.”
Clement was pleased to have Kemar Roofe back training with the squad again and he said that the player will be fit to play a part against Hearts. The manager said even a short appearance from the striker could be decisive.
“Kemar trained a few times this week with the group and since we don’t have so many offensive players he will be in the squad tomorrow, though not to play even a half,” Clement said.
“It will be for some minutes but could be important at the end of the game that you can put him in with his goalscoring qualities and experience.”
