Raith Rovers have appointed former Aberdeen boss Barry Robson as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 46-year-old takes the reins at the Scottish Championship side just over a week after Neill Collins left to take on a new role in the United States.
Robson was sacked by Aberdeen at the end of January after being appointed by the Pittodrie club in May 2023 following a promising stint as caretaker.
The former Dundee United, Celtic, Middlesbrough, Aberdeen and Scotland midfielder becomes Rovers’ third permanent manager of the season after Ian Murray was sacked in August and eventually replaced by Collins a month later.
“It’s a great honour to be appointed as the manager of Raith Rovers, and I’m truly excited about the challenge ahead,” Robson told the Raith website as his appointment was announced on Sunday evening.
“The club’s potential is clear to see, and the vision shared by the board of directors during our discussions made this an opportunity I was eager to be part of.”
Raith are currently sixth in the Championship after winning each of their last three matches and chief executive Andrew Barrowman added: “Barry’s wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach, combined with his passion for the game, makes him the perfect fit for the next chapter of our journey.
“Barry’s knowledge around who we are as a club and the expectations that our loyal fanbase crave, separated him from an exceptional list of candidates.”
