Adidas has released a limited-edition Predator to celebrate three decades of the iconic football boot.
The original boots, worn by the likes of Manchester United and England legend David Beckham, Old Firm stars John Collins and Paul Gascoigne, as well as France legend Zinedine Zidane, were first released in 1994.
Predator 30 features the classic fold-over tongue – the hallmark of goalscorers for a generation of football fans – made famous by Beckham in the 90s.
Adidas has made 1,994 pairs, in homage to the original release date, with a price tag of £300.
The sports brand said the release is a precursor to an all-new Predator model set for release in January 2024.
The Predator 30 was worn for the first time on pitch officially by England midfielder Jude Bellingham while playing for Real Madrid against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on November 29.
Sam Handy, Adidas Football vice president of product and design, said: “The introduction of the Predator franchise completely changed how people thought about football boots, both from a performance and a marketing perspective.
“Over the years, it’s been worn by some of the greatest players of players of their generations, in some of the game’s most historic moments.”
“Reflecting on the last three decades of innovation, we felt the time was right to hit a reset and be inspired by the elements that first made Predator so popular – its look, feel and focus on goalscoring.
“We’re sure admirers of the early Predator models will be delighted to see the famous tongue making a comeback, and we hope newer fans will enjoy rocking the tongue on pitch for the first time.”
The boots go on sale from December 8.
