Adam Hastings 'excited' to be back at Scotstoun as Glasgow Warriors aim to keep up impressive record

Adam Hastings is excited about getting back to Scotstoun for his first competitive game at the stadium since making his return to Glasgow Warriors.

Back for a second-spell at the club, he is preparing for the team’s first home game of the new season when they take on Benetton on Friday night.

Following a three-year spell at Gloucester, the 27-year-old son of rugby legend Gavin Hastings has returned to the reigning United Rugby Championship champions.

And after an opening day narrow defeat to Ulster at the weekend, the Warriors are keen to get their first win of the season on Hasting’s return to Scotstoun.

He said: “I had a hit in preseason against Connacht and it wasn’t quite full, so hopefully we can get as many people down here as possible.

“I have a lot of good memories so I’m looking forward to coming back into the team this year.

“You can feel the confidence that is here from winning the title last season.”

Scotstoun has become a bit of a fortress for Glasgow in recent years, with their last defeat at home in the regular league season coming almost three years ago.

Assistant coach Peter Murchie is hoping to continue that impressive record.

He said: “We know the record we have got here, but we want to add to it.

“All our games here at Scotstoun are games we really look forward to and I think it’s really important that we make this place not a nice place to play for the opposition.

“We have the responsibility to get the crowd into it with the way we play and the way we perform.”
