Rangers attacker Josh Windass has joined Wigan for £2.5m plus add-ons, STV understands.

The English forward finished as joint top goalscorer at Ibrox last campaign but he has now left to join the Latics following Steven Gerrard's Light Blues squad overhaul.

Windass is the second Rangers player to switch to the Championship just before the English transfer window slams shut, with defender Declan John making the move to Swansea.

The 24-year-old was brought to Glasgow in 2016 by Mark Warburton after impressing for Accrington Stanley.

Windass became a regular fixture in the Rangers side last season after struggling with injury during his early moments at the club.

He scored 18 times last campaign across all competitions.
