Celtic have taken former Romania under-21 international right-back Andrei Peteleu on trial.

The 23-year-old trained with the Scottish Premiership champions on Friday, with Ronny Deila assessing the defender at Lennoxtown.

Peteleou is under contract with Petrolul Ploieti, playing for the Romanian Liga 1 side since 2014.

The Hoops have also invited Norwegian midfielder Kristoffer Ajer to spend some time training with the club.

"We have two trialists in," said Celtic assistant boss John Collins. "We will assess them and they will be here for a week. They are both doing very well."

The 17-year-old has just one year of his contract at IK Start left to run, with Deila using his connections in Norway to secure the player on a trial period.

Celtic have yet to make a signing in this January transfer window, although striker Anthony Stokes has been the subject of a loan approach from Inverness CT.
