Cove Rangers' defensive midfielder Stuart Duff believes a win over Motherwell in the Scottish Cup this weekend would be the biggest result in the club's history.

The Highland League side will travel to Fir Park on Saturday looking to make history by reaching the fifth round of the competition.

Their best run in the cup came in 2007-08 when they reached the fourth round, something they equalled this season by knocking out Banks O'Dee, Fort William and Formatine United.

Duff, who spent almost a decade at Dundee United at the start of his playing career, says the fixture is the biggest in Cove Rangers' 94-year history and they're not travelling to North Lanarkshire just to make up the numbers.

He said: "I think it's been a long time since a Highland League team made it into the fifth round, and to go through against a Premiership team would probably be the greatest result in Cove's history as far as I'm led to believe.

"We're going to go down there and give it our all, that's got to be our aim. We're under no illusions how difficult the task will be.

"Motherwell are playing really well just now and it's going to be an uphill task but we will go down there with confidence and belief."

Cove Rangers sit second in the Highland League, but can equal leaders Brora Rangers points tally if they win their two games in hand.

Duff admits the focus is fully on the Scottish Cup this weekend though and the squad are hoping to pull off a shock result. "It's been quite low key if I'm being honest," he added.

"John and the coaching staff have been really good keeping the guys focused on one game at a time, this has come round in no time at all and it's one we're really looking forward to."
