Scotland has been hit with widespread travel disruption after a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and snow came into place on Friday morning.
The first yellow warning came into effect at 2am on Friday as heavy rain hit central areas of Scotland including Glasgow, Stirling, and Edinburgh.
The Met Office said the conditions will bring a risk of flooding to homes and will likely disrupt travel.
A second yellow warning was issued from 3am on Friday as snow is expected to arrive in areas such as Angus, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Aberdeenshire, the Highlands, and Argyll and Bute.
STV meteorologist Sean Batty said that snow will be heavy in northern parts of the country with some sleet and wet snow is possible especially in the north Highlands including areas of the A9 south of Inverness.
“As much as 10-15cm of snow may accumulate in grassy areas over 300 metres,” he said.
Both warnings for snow and rain are in place until 9am and have affected train services and roads up and down the country.
@susa30460 via SuppliedDue to flooding on the line, ScotRail confirmed that services between Glasgow and Edinburgh will be cancelled on Friday morning.
The travel provider has said they have requested buses and are looking to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
There are also speed restrictions in place due to heavy rain.
Drivers across Scotland have been warned that conditions are “particularly tricky” on Friday morning due to surface water and driving rain.
On the M90, Southbound, drivers have been told to “take care” as reports of an overturned vehicle between J5 – J6 is said to be straddling both lanes, while also on the road, prior to Kelty, lanes one and two are being diverted onto the hard shoulder due to a crash.
Police are reporting a collision on the A720, Westbound, around Lothianburn which is currently blocking one lane.
On the A93, in Glenshee, difficult driving conditions have been reported between Braemar and Glenshee.
On the M9, Southbound, Junction 2, is blocked due to flooding on the carriageway.
The Met Office said a third yellow warning, this time for wind, will come into force across nearly all of Scotland south of Stirling from 8am on Saturday.
Forecasters predict gusts of up to 70mph with injuries from flying debris possible.
Residents living in the central belt, south and southwest of the country are also warned about potential power cuts during the weekend.
The alert will end at 10pm.
