Weather warning in place as commuters face disruption

Heavy wind and rain has been causing major travel disruption throughout the country with a yellow ‘be aware’ warning active for Monday morning.

Train services between Glasgow Central and the Cathcart circle, via Queen’s Park and via Maxwell Park, were cancelled for around an hour due to flooding.

ScotRail announced the disruptions had ended just before 8am.

The rail operator say that while all services are currently on time, customers should check their journey before hand with the yellow weather warning active until 11am.

Meanwhile difficult driving conditions have been causing congestion on roads and motorways.

The M8, M77, M74, M80 and A747 have all been affected.

The yellow weather warning covers most of the country and the Met Office say the heavy winds could cause some short term loss of power further disruption to travel by road, rail and sea.
