The Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice as Scots prepare to travel across the country over the festive period.

The yellow warning has been put in place until 10am on Thursday and covers parts of Tayside, Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands and Argyll and Bute.

Travel disruption is expected following the warning, which may see some public transport services cancelled as a result.

Motorists have also been urged to take care, with warnings of road closures and longer journey times due to ice.

Roads, pavements and cycle lanes may become impassable and pedestrians have been urged to be mindful of icy surfaces which could lead to slips and falls.

The Met Office added that some snow may fall in the Highlands in higher areas.
