Police are investigating after two hotels in the Borders were broken into during the early hours of Friday morning.
Two men entered the Park Hotel on Innerleithen Road in Peebles at around 1.20am, stealing a four-figure sum of cash before leaving the scene in the direction of High Street.
Less than an hour later, at around 2.15am, the same two men broke into the Traquair Arms Hotel on Traquair Road in Innerleithen. A safe and a four-figure sum of cash were stolen.
Police Scotland said the incidents are being treated as linked.
Both men are described as white, in their 60s, and were wearing dark clothing and gloves. One man was wearing a cap, while the other wore a beanie-style hat.
Detective constable Nicky Batten said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify the two men involved and trace the car they used. Officers are studying CCTV from in and around the area to gather more information.
“I would urge anyone who was in these areas early on Friday morning who has any information or personal footage which could assist our enquiries to please contact us.”
