Adobe StockA supermarket has pulled a series of pasta salads from shelves following the detection of salmonella in the to-go packs.
The Food Standards Agency(FSA) issued the alert on Thursday, urging customers not to eat the three Tesco lunch items.
Tesco Basil Pesto and Semi Dried Tomato Pasta 225g, Tesco Chicken and Chorizo Pasta 285g and Tesco Feta Semi Dried Tomato Pasta 290g are all affected by the health alert.
Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
The FSA advises anyone experiencing these symptoms to stay away from work, school or nursery until they are symptom-free for 48 hours to avoid passing it onto others.
Customers with affected pasta salads with the use by date of July 24 are urged not to eat the product. An additional alert for the Chicken and Chorizo Pasta with the use by date of July 25 has also been issued.
Affected items can be returned to any Tesco store for a full refund.
