Tennent’s is saying goodbye to its master brewer who has made ten billion pints over a 47 year career.
Keith Lugton began his time with the iconic Glasgow brewery in September 1977 after his wife spotted the advert for the laboratory assistant role in the Edinburgh Evening News.
Just over a decade later, in 1989, Mr Lugton qualified as a master brewer and has held various roles in the business over the decades.
During his time with Tennent’s, he believes he has helped develop around 30 different beers.
Tennent’s released a video dedicated to the master brewer.
“After 47 years at Tennent’s, our master brewer Keith Lugton has overseen the brewing of ten billion pints,” the lager giant said.
“A true Tennent’s legend behind the scenes, he takes one last sip as we raise a crisp cold pint to our Keith.”
During the emotive video many colleagues pay tribute to Keith’s dedication to beer and his vast amount of knowledge.
The master brewer said: “Knowing that I won’t be back in meandering around the brewery looking at things and tasting beer, it will be an adjustment.
“However, when you look back and review your life, you think about all the positive things and it fills you with a bit of pride to have been (here) all through those years and through it all.
“Probably just being here has been a highlight which has lasted 47 years.”
