Sir Chris Hoy has teamed up with Kiltwalk to raise funds for five cancer charities.
The six-time Olympic champion cyclist has joined forces with the event – in which participants wear kilts for a mass walk and donate the funds raised to various charities.
In October, Sir Chris announced he had a terminal prostate cancer diagnosis after having been told in 2023 by doctors that he had two to four years to live.
The 48-year-old is working with Kiltwalk to boost his Tour de 4, a new fundraising charity bike ride supporting UK cancer charities and aims to change the perception of people with stage four cancer.
The Tour de 4 ride will begin and end at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on September 7.
Up to 5,000 places will be available for the Tour de 4, which can be ridden over a 92km route or a shorter 60km option.
Last year, Kiltwalk raised more than £7m, which was spread across 1,650 charities.
Now in its tenth year, the 2025 event will focus on cancer charities.
Anyone who chooses to walk for Kiltwalk will see everything they raise, plus eligible Gift Aid, going to five cancer charities nominated by Sir Chris.
The five cancer charities are Breast Cancer Now, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Maggie’s and Prostate Cancer UK.
Sir Chris recorded a special message for Kiltwalkers, confirming that his Tour de 4 charity cycling event will be supported by Kiltwalk and The Hunter Foundation this year.
He said: “Hello Kiltwalkers, I’m so honoured and delighted that my charity cycling event, the Tour de 4, will be supported by the Kiltwalk, and the hunter foundation this year.
“The great news is that if you select Kiltwalk as your chosen charity, all of your fundraising, plus gift aid, will go to the five cancer charities I’m supporting through the Tour de 4, following my stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis 18 months ago.
“The kiltwalk is an unforgettable experience that takes place in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh, so sign up now, and choose kiltwalk. Thank you, and good luck.”
The Kiltwalk takes place in Glasgow on April 26-27, in Aberdeen on June 1, in Dundee on August 17, and in Edinburgh on September 14.
