Scotland has recorded 2190 new cases of coronavirus and seven deaths in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Official statistics published on Saturday also indicated that 42 people were in intensive care as of Friday, with 435 people in hospital.

A total of 3.9m people have received their first Covid-19 vaccine dose, whilst 2.8m have received their second dose.

The figures show that of the 27,162 new tests for the virus which reported results, 9% were positive.

Earlier this week, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called for “care and caution” before any move to level zero.

At a coronavirus briefing, she said that an announcement will be made in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday as to whether Scotland will be moved to level zero.

A date of August 9 has previously been set as a target for lifting all major restrictions, but ministers have said that they will keep case numbers under review.
