Skies above Scotland were awash with colour on Thursday as the Northern Lights danced in a dazzling display.
On Thursday evening, many Scots had a front-row seat to the Aurora Borealis which saw the heavens beam with green and pink light.
Residents across Stirlingshire, Aberdeenshire and more shared images with STV News of the stunning light displays.
Ahead of the display, the Met Office said sightings were most likely across Scotland, and possible in Northern Ireland, northern England and also the north Norfolk coast.
For those disappointed to have missed the display on Thursday evening, the Met Office said there is another chance to see the lights on Friday night into Saturday – however the light show may be weaker.
While the chances of catching the display are slimmer, disappointed stargazers need not worry, as there are expected to be many more opportunities to catch the lights this year.
STV meteorologist Sean Batty said: “Don’t worry if you miss them this time – there will be plenty of opportunities in the next two winters, when the aurora is expected to be particularly active.”
Stunning displays of the Northern Lights have already been seen across Scotland this year with a strong geometric storm putting on a dazzling display in May.
