The 57-year-old was reportedly walking in the Parc del Forum area on the first day of the Primavera Sound music festival – headlined by the Pet Shop Boys – when the incident occurred on Wednesday evening.

Officers from the Catalan police alongside colleagues from the local ambulance and fire services were seen attempting to free the man shortly after 11pm, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man – said to be a companion of the victim – was said to be receiving psychological support after witnessing the collision.

The man’s identity has not been revealed.
