Delighted parents across Scotland have welcomed the first babies of 2026.

At Livingston’s St John’s Hospital, Courtney Brown and Graham Lindsey welcomed baby boy Hunter just after midnight, at 12.26am.

Ms Brown said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic. It’s dad’s first wee boy. We’re over the moon.”

Baby boy Charlie was born to parents Alanah and Oli Gardner at 2.45am, at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He weighed in at 7lbs.

Mum Alanah said: “The midwives have been unbelievable, so well looked after. A great start to the New Year.”

At the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley, parents Colette and Ryan Lynch welcomed baby Leo who was born at 12.21am, weighing 6lb 10oz.

The first baby to arrive at Princess Royal Maternity Hospital was born at 12.27am to Mr and Mrs Kousar – who are yet to decide on a name for their daughter.

Less than an hour later, baby Vincent was welcomed by parents Emily and Kyle Robertson, at 1.22am weighing 7lb 7oz.

At the University Hospital Crosshouse’s Maternity Unit, baby Arabella was born at 12.14am to Lucy-Jane Bark and Luke Hutchinson, from Stevenston, North Ayrshire.
