Scots dairy farm Graham's pulls milk from shelves over fears of 'vet medicine' inside

A Scottish dairy farm has pulled milk from shelves over allergy fears after traces of veterinary medicines were found.

Graham’s Family Dairy is recalling its semi-skimmed milk because veterinary medicines, including antibiotics, may have been found in the product.

It means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to antibiotics, including penicillin.

The product is sold at major supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA and Morrisons.

It affects one pint and one to two-litre pack sizes with a best-before date of July 31.

Food Standards Scotland, in a recall notice, said: “The presence of veterinary medicines, including antibiotics, in the product may make it unsafe to consume and may be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to antibiotics, including penicillin.”

Grahams Family Dairy said in a statement: “We believe that the quality of our products and the safety of our consumers is paramount.

“This is a precautionary measure we have taken as there is a small risk that a trace level of antibiotics may be present in the milk, which could cause a reaction to consumers with an allergy to antibiotics.

“If you have purchased any of these products, please do not consume. Instead, please return the milk to the store where it was purchased for a refund.

“We apologise for this issue and would like to reassure our customers that no other Grahams Family Dairies products or use-by dates are affected.”
