Scotland’s first-ever baby sloth has celebrated World Sloth Day with a special tasty treat.

Atty, who was named after Sir David Attenborough, was born in May earlier this year at Edinburgh Zoo – the same month the broadcaster celebrated his 100th birthday.

His arrival marked the first time a sloth had been born in the country.

Keepers at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) gave Atty and mum Fe some of their favourite snacks to mark World Sloth Day.

International Sloth Day is celebrated on October 20 to raise awareness about the threats sloths face and the need to protect them in the wild.

The wildlife conservation charity is home to three Linne’s two-toed sloths, mum Fe, dad Nico and baby Atty. The trio live together in the Sloth House, which is specially designed with a warm and humid environment.
