A music star who “embodies the atmosphere of the Tartan Army” is to perform at a special party ahead of Scotland’s first World Cup match.

Nick Morgan, known for his viral hit, No Scotland, No Party, will perform at a boat party in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 13 – the day before Scotland kick off their campaign against Haiti.

The Tartan Boat Party has been organised by Scots David Nugent, 31, and Callum Grubb, 28.

Mr Nugent, of Glasgow, said: “We have had a lot of musicians get in contact, and we wanted one who represents the Tartan Army, so we went with Nick Morgan.

“He really represents the atmosphere of the Tartan Army.

“We’ve one of the best supporters groups in the world and he really embodies that.”

Mr Grubb added: “His songs are upbeat, energetic and fun, which is what were aiming to achieve.”

Mr Nugent added: “Boston is one of the most expensive cities in world, so we wanted to create an event that folk wanted to go to and could afford.”

Since launching the event just over six weeks ago, they have sold just over half of the 150 tickets on sale.

Mr Morgan, 42, hails from Prestwick, South Ayrshire.

He said: “It’s a great chance for me to perform in America, see the World Cup, and all the other opportunities that come with it.

“I’ve always really wanted to do a boat party and the opening game will be really special.”

Mr Morgan has a special World Cup version of his No Scotland, No Party anthem that he will perform for the fans onboard.

He said: “I think it’s a great way to start the party.”
