Train services between London and Scotland have been disrupted after a lorry struck a rail bridge.

Avanti West Coast reported the issue around 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoon, following the incident between Carlisle and Lockerbie.

The company operates rail services between Glasgow and Edinburgh to London’s Euston station.

All rail lines are blocked in the area and services may be cancelled or disrupted as a result.

A statement on the Avanti West Coast website said: “If your train is cancelled, you can travel on the two Avanti West Coast services either before or after your booked train with your current ticket.

“Alternatively, if you abandoned your journey as a result of the disruption, then you can claim a fee-free refund from where you bought your ticket.”
