A runner who became disorientated and hypothermic had to be rescued from a forest in Dumfries and Galloway.
The woman became lost in Dalbeattie Forest and her phone was not responding as the temperature started to drop rapidly on Tuesday evening.
Both the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team and a squad from Moffat began searching the woodland at around 6.40pm, with the latter coming to help having been deployed to locate five missing walkers at Waterloo Monument earlier in the day.
As the search was ongoing the runner’s phone became available and the teams were able to get its location.
Police Scotland and the mountain rescue groups were able to locate the runner who was very cold and starting to become hypothermic.
But after helping warm her up and she recovered.
A spokesperson for Moffat Mountain Rescue Team said: “Without phone technology to assist this could have been a long search.”
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team said it was a “good outcome for all involved”.
