Rail services on a busy route between Glasgow and Edinburgh have been disrupted after a person was struck by a train on Friday.
Shortly before 8.30pm on January 5, Scotrail said that train services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts were cancelled, delayed or revised due to the incident in Holytown.
ScotRail said that it was working with emergency services to reopen the line, however there was no estimate of how long the disruption would last.
The 8.19pm train from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh and the 8.30pm service from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central have both been cancelled.
A spokesperson for ScotRail said: “A person has been struck by a train in the Holytown area. Train services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts will be cancelled, delayed or revised.
“We’re working with the emergency services to get the line reopen but we’ve no estimate for this right now.”
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
