Queen Elizabeth II’s death certificate has been partially revealed after the monarch passed away in Scotland.

The head of state died at Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire, on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

The extract released by the National Records of Scotland said the Queen’s cause of death was “old age”.

The certificate states that Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, Her Majesty the Queen, died at 3.10pm, on September 8, at the age of 96, at Balmoral Castle in Ballater.

The registrar general was informed of the Queen’s death by her daughter, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal.

The registrar general for Scotland, Paul Lowe, confirmed that the Queen’s death was registered on September 16.

Her death was certified by registered medical practitioner Douglas James Allan Glass.

Her usual residence was noted as Windsor Castle.

She had been monarch of the United Kingdom for 70 years.

Members of the Royal family rushed to Balmoral, with Charles – the new King – and the Queen’s other children the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex travelling to the Scottish estate.

They were joined by the Queen’s grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry.

Her death was announced at 6.30pm, with Buckingham Palace saying the monarch passed away “peacefully”.

Her death in Scotland triggered Operation Unicorn, a series of ceremonial events set in motion by the Queen’s passing north of the border.
