Police say a stolen dark blue Land Rover collided with two parked vehicles in Hawick at around 3.20am on Friday May 16.

Police have launched a witness appeal after a stolen car crash and an attempted housebreaking in the Borders.

Officers responded to reports of a dark blue Land Rover that had collided with two parked vehicles in the Wilson Drive area of Hawick at around 3.20am on Friday May 16. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Sleepy Valley Park area of the town.

Further investigations revealed that the Land Rover had been stolen from outside a property in Stable Gardens, Galashiels, prior to the crash.

Later that morning, at approximately 8:20am, police received reports of an attempted housebreaking in the Queen Elizabeth Square area of Galashiels, which is believed to have occurred overnight.

Officers are now investigating whether the incidents are connected.

Detective Constable Nicky Batten commented: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these areas to come forward. We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have private CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation.”
